On Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, three of Michigan’s finest hair artists competed live on stage at The Tiffany Awards for the title of 2010 Hairdresser of the Year. Each finalist’s collection demonstrated outstanding talent, artistry and passion for their craft, but it was Nikki Jackson of Salon Lux in Shelby Township, MI who won the judges over with a collection born from her heart.

so much, he quickly invited her to join him as part of Miami’s Fashion Week. That suits Jackson just fine, who said she gets her inspiration from high fashion and fashion magazines.
"I am most excited to show you all what I can create," she told the judges.
Guest judges Michael O’Rourke and Carlo Bay were equally enthralled with Jackson’s creations. But Corral said it best: "I got goose bumps.""There’s a fine line between cheesy and fashion forward," Corral continued. "But you’ve made it work and I definitely |

Bay, Italy’s top hairdresser, said he was impressed to see "a little bit of Italian style" in Jackson’s show, which represented her ability to create styles in line with current and future fashion trends. Coming from Bay, a stylist who has worked with fashion desgner Roberto Cavalli for many years, Jackson said that was quite the compliment."I was just so excited," she said, "as this was my first time competing. And I am really proud of myself."
